This page is a snapshot of how MpowerM shows up for communities, small nonprofits, and grassroots leaders. It isn’t a list of every project—we’ve done far more than what’s written here—but these highlights give you a feel for the kind of work we do and the heart behind it.
Some of these stories reflect my earlier journey building skills in business, organizing, and community work. Today, those same skills are focused on helping small, often overlooked nonprofits strengthen their foundations, funding, and impact. As MpowerM grows, we’ll continue to update this page with new wins, partnerships, and projects that move our mission forward.
In an effort to both give back and truly understand the successes and struggles of Kansas City, I’ve been intentional about showing up where the work is happening. Through volunteering with local programs, supporting back‑to‑school and youth initiatives, and attending nonprofit and community events across the city, I’ve had the privilege of spending time on the ground with the people doing the work every day.
These moments have introduced me to brothers mentoring brothers, families preparing for a new school year, organizers building spaces for healing and joy, and leaders quietly holding their neighborhoods together. Each experience has helped me see more clearly what our small, community‑based organizations are up against—and what’s possible when they have the right support.
The photos in this carousel are just a glimpse into those volunteering and networking moments. Behind every image is a story, a relationship, and another reminder of why MpowerM exists: to stand alongside the people and organizations who are already out here empowering our communities.
I also make it a priority to be present in rooms where nonprofit and community work is being discussed, planned, and resourced. By attending local nonprofit events, community gatherings, and networking spaces across Kansas City, I’ve had the chance to listen, learn, and build relationships with leaders, funders, and organizations of all sizes.
These events have deepened my understanding of the ecosystem our small nonprofits are operating in—what support is available, where the gaps are, and how collaboration really happens on the ground. The photos in this carousel capture some of those moments of connection and conversation. Each one reflects another step in aligning MpowerM with the broader effort to strengthen, fund, and sustain the organizations that keep our communities moving.

In 2026, I had the opportunity to support Saving All My Bros by writing and winning a Community Capital Fund Youth Neighborhoods Rising Fund (Youth NRF) grant on their behalf. Saving All My Bros is a youth‑powered cultural movement in Kansas City that confronts gun violence through storytelling, creative leadership, and community healing, training young leaders to become ambassadors for peace in their schools and neighborhoods.
The Youth Neighborhoods Rising Fund is a “by youth, for youth” grant program that provides up to $5,000 for student‑led teams to design and carry out projects that strengthen their neighborhoods in areas like public safety, arts and culture, environmental stewardship, digital inclusion, and social cohesion. As the adult grant writer and advisor, my role was to help the youth team clarify their vision, align the project with Youth NRF’s funding priorities, and translate their ideas into a clear, fundable proposal. This experience deepened my commitment to supporting youth‑driven, community‑based organizations in accessing the resources they need to lead real change in Kansas City.
In October 2022, we had the pleasure of DJing at the Halloween Silent Party, an event organized to support the homeless communities through Lake Lotawana & The HillCrest Program in Missouri. This event was not just a celebration but also a fundraiser, showcasing how entertainment and philanthropy can go hand in hand.
The Silent Party brought residents together for a night of music and dance, all while wearing headphones to tune into the beats. It was a unique way to enjoy Halloween festivities and support a noble cause simultaneously.
Accompanying this brief is a video clip from the event, capturing the fun and community spirit. As part of MpowerM's commitment to giving back, we were thrilled to contribute to an event that made a tangible difference in our community.
Thanks to everyone who joined us, making it a memorable night while supporting an important cause. We're proud to be part of initiatives like this, blending our passion for music with our dedication to community service.

In the dynamic world of project management and business development, continuous learning and networking are not just beneficial; they are essential. At MpowerM, we are committed to staying ahead of industry trends and equipping ourselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve our clients best. A pivotal moment in our journey of growth and discovery was our attendance at the "Done is Better Than Perfect" Business Conference held in Tampa, Florida, in 2021.
This two-day event was an immersive experience filled with workshops, presentations, and invaluable networking opportunities. It brought together business owners and professionals from across the country, fostering an environment of learning and collaboration. For us, the conference was more than just an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals; it was a deep dive into the world of grants and their transformative potential for small businesses and non-profits.
The insights gained from the conference have profoundly influenced our approach to project management and client support. We came away with a renewed focus on the power of grants as a tool for growth and sustainability, equipping us to better guide our clients through the intricacies of securing funding and leveraging it to its fullest potential.
The accompanying photos from the event capture moments of connection and collaboration with fellow business owners. These images are a testament to the rich tapestry of relationships and knowledge we continue to build, each one contributing to the foundation of success for MpowerM and the clients we serve.
Our experience at the "Done is Better Than Perfect" Business Conference was a significant milestone for MpowerM, marking a moment where we deepened our understanding and expanded our network, all in the pursuit of excellence. It underscores our dedication to not just keeping pace with industry developments, but actively seeking out opportunities for growth, learning, and collaboration.

In a critical situation that saw over 200 families on the brink of eviction due to their rental complex's attempt to file false claims, MpowerM stepped in to champion justice and community support. By collaborating with a local news station, the Covid Relief Fund, and the Legal Aid Society, we were able to shine a light on the wrongful actions taken against these families.
Our efforts were pivotal in halting the evictions and ensuring that the affected families remained in their homes. Initially, these families were approved for Covid Relief Funds, agreements that the rental office had accepted but then unjustly attempted to negate through mass evictions.
Through strategic intervention and advocacy, we helped enforce the original agreements, securing the rightful support for these families during a time of unprecedented uncertainty. This initiative is a testament to MpowerM's commitment to community well-being and justice, highlighting our role in mobilizing resources and support for those in dire need.
MpowerM Staff @ Carver Community Center
Schenectady NY 2013
MpowerM faced the significant challenge of securing funding for an after-school health and fitness program in a community center located within an underserved neighborhood. Despite initial obstacles, including limited knowledge in grant writing and a scarcity of resources, our team's unwavering determination and strategic use of available technology led to a breakthrough.
With meticulous research and careful planning, we successfully compiled a compelling grant proposal that not only secured the necessary funding but also set the foundation for a sustainable program. Leveraging our network and community support, we were able to equip the center with essential sports equipment and recruit a team of dedicated volunteers.
The program launched to enthusiastic participation, introducing dozens of children to healthful activities like jump rope and basketball, fostering both physical health and teamwork skills. Today, the community center thrives, continuing to offer a wide range of health and fitness programming that benefits the community.
This achievement stands as a testament to MpowerM's resourcefulness, perseverance, and deep commitment to enhancing community well-being. It highlights our ability to navigate challenges and drive meaningful change, reflecting our core values and the impact we strive to make through our work.
Rev Grigsby, the Exec Director of SICM , myself and Eric Stigberg, the Marketing Director at AAA Northway 2013
At MpowerM, we believe in the power of community and the impact of giving back. A memorable chapter in our journey of community service unfolded during my tenure at AAA Northway, where I spearheaded our annual local charity initiative, dubbed "Soup & Socks." This initiative was born out of a collaboration with the Schenectady Inner City Ministry (SICM), an organization dedicated to addressing the pressing needs of those in our community.
Understanding the critical demand for basic necessities, we chose "Soup & Socks" as our theme, responding to SICM's insight that these were among the top requested items at their shelter. This initiative wasn't just about collecting items; it was about warming hearts and bringing smiles to faces during the holiday season.
Our call to action resonated across all AAA Northway branches, igniting a wave of generosity that far exceeded our expectations. Together, we collected hundreds of pairs of socks, numerous cans of soup, and were pleasantly surprised by the additional donations of hats and gloves, all of which went a long way in supporting those in need.
The success of the "Soup & Socks" drive was a testament to the collective spirit of our community and the power of collaboration. It was an enriching experience that not only contributed significantly to the well-being of our neighbors but also strengthened the bonds within our team and with the community we serve.
This initiative stands as a proud milestone in the MpowerM legacy, highlighting our commitment to community well-being and the positive change we can effect when we come together. The accompanying photo captures a moment of this journey, featuring myself, an executive from AAA Northway, and the Director of SICM, united by a common goal and shared values.
At MpowerM, we carry forward this spirit of service and collaboration, committed to making a difference in every project we undertake and every community we touch.
